Payment


1 What is the amount to be paid?
Rs 990 as the contest fee.
2 How do I make the payment?
Make a DD in favour of “ Jagran Solutions, A unit of JPL” and send it to: Jagran Solutions, 221, Okhla Phase: III, New Delhi-110020
3 How many days will it take to get my DD to be updated on the report card?
It is assumed minimum 3 days for the whole process. Can exceed.

5 Is there any extra amount I have to pay for the email ids or web space?
No. Rs. 990 is the only amount one has to pay for the registration, rest all the services are free.

Registration

1 How should I register for the contest?
Log on to www.goalivechallenge.com and register your team. You will be given a login ID & password on successful completion of the registration process.
2 What are the documents required to book the domain?
     • Principal’s Declaration
     • Demand Draft of RS. 990
3 How many teams per college can participate?
Only 1 team per college is allowed to participate.
4 What are the mandatory details to be filled up during registration?
     • College details
     • Administration details
     • Billing details
     • Technical department details

Technical

1 How would I know that my URL has been booked / locked?
Once we will receive the declaration of the principal along with DD, we will block the URL as per the options provided by the team on the registration form basis availability.
2 Is there any other option to build website offline?
Yes, provided you have adequate software to design website offline e.g. SQL, FrontPage, Visual studio 2005 or above, .NET 2.0
3 Why do I need to give more than 1 URL option?
We request every team to give more than 1 URL option because your desired URL may not be available. This can be because of the fact that someone else has already bought the Domain space or it requires certain documentation which will be difficult to provide. Hence when you give us the option, we will send you the most feasible URL available.
4 How can Windows Live spaces be beneficial to the college?

1 What is WIN 32 Application or EduExpress?
Basic function of this software is to manage all your domain email IDs. For reference click (LINK) (Pictorial decks will be linked)
2 What is the role of the WIN 32 Application in managing existing member list?
Rename, add & delete existing members one by one or in bulk, easily.
3 What are the options to build our own website?
By editing the templates online.
If you have adequate software like SQL, FrontPage etc. then download
the templates & build your website offline.
Build your fresh website & upload it on the contest site.
Upload Student committees (cultural, sports, dramatics, etc.)
Put up posters in campus &send us pictures.
4 What are Live communications posters all about?
Poster 1: (Email for everyone) Containing all the necessary details & announcement of the contest.
Poster 2: (Coolest Online campus) Pictures of the domain & email ids uploaded on participation report card.

Mandatory Website requirements

1 What are the mandatory guidelines to participate in the contest?
• Minimum 300 ids or 20% of college strength(whichever is higher)
• 5 faculty ids & 1 principal id.
• Integrate at least 2 components of live functionality.
• Website needs to have at least the following sections

iv. Admission Process page
v. Alumni page
With login access:
i. Calendar
ii. Community
iii. Polls
iv. Student committees (cultural, sports, dramatics, etc.)

General

1 How much space will I get for building a website?
Initially 100 MB further expandable to 120 MB.
2 What are the timelines?
The contest starts on 10th February 2008. You will have to finish making your website by the 30th of June ’08. You will have time till 15th of July ’08 to drive usage. After that information will get locked.
3 Whom do I contact in case of any Query?
The Helpline No. is given at the bottom of the “Contact Us” section of www.goalivechallenge.com. You can call on that no. for any query/ technical assistance.
4 How I can get the winning edge?
 
a.. Make sure you get as many students & faculty to use the campus email as possible. More the users, the higher your score:
     • % of the student body with IDs
     • 50% of the total campus strength – 50 Points
     • 60-75% of campus strength – 100 points
     • 75% - 100 % of campus strength – 150 Points
b.. The academic relevance of your website content (pictures & text) and Live integration can fetch you a higher score.
i. Content on the website - 100 Points
     • Academic relevance of content.
     • Alumni involvement
ii. Quality of Innovation (additional usage of Live services) - 100 Points
iii. Creativity - 100 Points
     • Color scheme
     • Relevance of sections
     • Vibrancy & Site interactivity (higher usage of community spaces)
